Back from San Francisco: a whirlwind trip

We’re back in the shop from our whirlwind trip to Florida and San Francisco. We definitely made the most of our time in San Francisco, starting with midnight tacos upon arrival.

While we were in SF we did bike related things, too. We saw where the Belt Drive Townie is hanging at Freemans, and visited the awesome guys at Box Dog Bikes who have been receiving our SF bikes and building them up for our clients. And as luck would have it, we ran into Tracko himself randomly on the street!

By the time Thanksgiving rolled around on Thursday, we’d already eaten better in 4 days in SF than we had for months at home. Our host had prepared for the holiday by purchasing a deep fryer for the occasion, and it was hands down the best turkey we’ve ever had. (Please forgive the gratuitous Thanksgiving dinner shot. Don’t worry - this is still a bike blog.)

We returned to Roanoke late Friday night, and on Saturday we met up with SN to start working on his new road bike bound for Wilmington, NC next summer! It was a great trip filled with fantastic friends, and now we’re full speed ahead getting the last of our NAHBS bikes to paint by Christmas! Fortunately, with the arrival of some new tools today we’re hoping to speed up production a bit in the next few months. But more on that later. Gotta get back to the bikes!

The Calm Before The Storm

This weekend we will be celebrating the joyous union of two great friends from Chicago, IL. Well, formerly from Chicago. After they get hitched they’re driving cross country to move to Los Angeles, so I suppose they’re soon to be residents of California. And in the meantime, for purposes of pomp and circumstance, (and fortunately for all of their friends and families), A. Moffett and H. Loud are getting married in Florida!! So Six-Eleven is taking a hiatus to spend some time basking in the sun in warm West Palm Beach. And, since we’ve got someone watching after the dogs, we’ll be extending our weekend with a side trip to San Francisco for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Aaron has a bike shipping to paint before we hop on a plane, and if we can get some photos of it we’ll post during the break.

The shop will be closed Thursday, November 17 - Friday, November 25th. We’ll be back on the 26th for a client fitting and to dive head first into NAHBS mayhem. Tis the season to be working 20 hours a day on show bikes!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our readers!

SM’s Crit Bike, North Carolina

This sleek frame has been built up to be a crit racing bike for SM in North Carolina. The frame is made with Columbus Zona and a True Temper Aero downtube. The hand-bent S bend stays feature a beautifully curved bridge, and Hill at Airglow finished it off by painting the bike to match SM’s team kit. The backside of the contour tire cutout and the backside of the Enve carbon fork were painted to match the green (hexachrome green!) of the interior masking on the frame. Look for it in crits in the Mid-Atlantic next spring!

More photos after the jump.

Roanoke’s First Tweed Run Saturday!

Roanoke’s First Tweed Run Saturday!

Style photographer David Verde is putting on Roanoke’s first ever Tweed Run this coming Saturday. David has been working hard to bring style and substance to the Roanoke and New River Valleys, and we can’t wait to see Roanokers in their finest!

Registration begins at 10:30 at Cups in Grandin Village, and the ride is set to commence at 11:30. Participants will ride approximately 3.5 miles through Roanoke’s downtown, and awards will be given for best dressed, best bike, and honorable mention. Don’t forget to bring a non-perishable food item for donation! Now if only we could get out of the shop to go buy some tweed. We’ll see you there!
